Tucked into the cedar forest above the Jogasaki coast, this timber villa is a proper unplug — the loudest thing you will hear is the stream running past the deck and the sea breaking against the cliffs below. Floor-to-ceiling glass frames the trees; sliding shoji open onto a private open-air onsen (rotenburo) fed by natural hot spring water. Inside, a tatami living room with a sunken kotatsu sits beside a modern kitchen and a long dining table built from a single slab of local keyaki. Two western bedrooms and a traditional futon room sleep up to six, with yukata and towels laid out for every guest. Ten minutes on foot brings you to the Jogasaki coastal trail, its lava cliffs and the Kadowaki suspension bridge; fifteen by car to Ito's seafood markets and retro onsen streets. Mornings are for forest walks and a soak; evenings for the mountains turning gold over the Pacific.
